It’s that time of year again - Powerstown ETNS will host our HB Ice Cream Fun day in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland!
On June 1st, each class will be getting their own delicious ice-cream to enjoy! We are asking all the boys and girls to donate €2 for this brilliant cause, Down Syndrome Ireland. Down Syndrome Ireland is an organisation that is working to provide an Irish society where people with Down Syndrome have the same basic human rights to healthcare, education, employment opportunities and decision making as all other citizens. Please support this great cause! We used various resources as prompts to write silly sentences to practice both our handwriting and word order!
We each chose a topic of interest to us to complete a project on. We researched information using the ipad, read library books and asked people we knew had been to Peru. Once we had gathered our information, we then wrote the information in our own words and created our poster projects. We carefully selected suitable pictures and when we were finished we decorated the poster with some flags and logos of Peru!
Wow what a month that was! Check out the fabulous photos below of all our project work and our final display. Well done to everyone on their hard work. We hope you enjoyed it! Intercultural May is in action in the Birch Class - we have found Peru on the map and the globe; examined what countries and oceans it touches; looked at the flag; examined traditional textiles and images of funny-faced llama's so we could make our own amazing art; we have learned a poem and song; we have also begun our personal projects on a range of topics - and we are researching using library books, ipads and asking teacher. We can't wait to show our work to you all next Thursday 24th May on Intercultural Day! We were so lucky with the weather today for our Willow Workshop in the Forest School! |
