We have been conducting an experiment to investigate the impact of drinks on our teeth. The enamel of our teeth is very similar to the shell of an egg so we placed hard boiled eggs into various drinks - water, orange juice, milk, tea, coffee, cola, diet cola and of course we left one cup empty as a control.
During our food themed month we conducted an experiement to discover which bread would go mouldy first! We were very resilient as we examined the bread samples as the smell was pretty bad!! The white bread grew some blue mould, but parts of it still felt fresh and it only smelled a little bit. The brown bread grew lots of white mould and then blue mould on top of it and smelt really bad. So we concluded that the brown bread sample went mouldy first - we realised that this is because there are more preservatives and additives in the white bread sample. We learned all about Pop Art and Andy Warhol - then we decided to create our own food themed prints. First we sketched our image then we etched into onto a styrofoam plate. Next we covered the plate with paint and printed it onto paper. While the print dried we added more detail to our plate by altering the etching. Then we overprinted it onto the original print. We had great fun and learned a new art skill! We were so lucky to have a visit from the Sam Maguire cup this morning along with Dublin player Ciaran Kilkenny! We sang songs and waved our flags.
